Benzodiazepine Addiction Treatment
Getting off benzodiazepines starts with a medical taper, not going cold turkey. We map your dose down slowly under supervision, then move you into therapy that addresses why the anxiety or sleep problem started. From detox through aftercare, we stay with you the whole way.
How Lousage Institute Treats Benzodiazepine Addiction
Your first appointment is a clinical assessment. We ask about how much you take, how long you have been taking it, and what else is going on with your health and mental health. That tells us where to start.
Benzodiazepine withdrawal can be dangerous if you quit abruptly. Seizures, spikes in anxiety, and trouble sleeping are common, which is why we often taper slowly under supervision in medical detox rather than stopping cold.
After detox, most people continue in residential treatment or step into our outpatient program, depending on your situation. If anxiety, panic, or depression are part of why the benzos took hold, we treat those alongside the addiction, in the same plan, with the same team.
Therapies We Use
Your care plan starts with an assessment, then we build the mix that fits what you're actually dealing with. That usually means cognitive behavioral therapy to work through the thinking behind use, group therapy to practice it with others, and family support when the people close to you need to be part of recovery. When it's clinically appropriate, we add medication-assisted treatment.
